BFG regularly venture into local and rural areas to undertake social awareness projects. These are in 4 main areas: HIV/AIDS, Cholera, Malaria and Personal Hygiene. These projects are carried out in association with the local health authorities.
These usually take place in schools, directed at the students, and are to teach how to protect themselves in these 4 key areas. We build the knowledge of the subject, including how the illnesses are transmitted, teach best practices to prevent them, and what to do should they contract them. The Personal Hygiene is a broader subject, covering many aspects of best practice to prevent illness. We break down misconceptions and venture into subjects often considered taboo. We make the presentations interactive, so to keep the audience interested and encourage them to become a part of it.
The presentations always end with an open forum, where students can ask any questions they wish on the subject, whilst staying anonymous if they wish, so that ‘taboo’ subjects can be dealt with. We are always looking for new ideas to make the presentations more effective, this is where your ideas can come in.
