Agona Swedru is the district capital of Agona west assembly. As of 2010 the population was 1.2 million. The main occupation is farming.
One of the main problem affecting the district is poverty. The dependency ratio for the district is 79.1% with the total dependency for the rural higher 95.3% than that of the urban 74.7%.
These conditions leads to;
School drop out, street children, high rate of teenage pregnancy, single parents, drug abuse and unemployment, resorting to child labour to support the family, illegal exploitation of natural resources, resorting to loans with rate interest.
Base on these facts, we are running a scholarship program that will only favor brilliant children from poor families living in deprived areas. The main goal is to promote poverty elimination through providing good education and exposure
