BFG Farms

BFG Farms is one of BFGGHANA’s sustainability projects, established to promote sustainable agriculture, strengthen food security, create employment opportunities, and generate long-term income to support the organisation’s educational and community development programmes.

Agriculture remains one of Ghana’s most important economic sectors, providing livelihoods for millions of people. However, many farming communities continue to face challenges such as limited access to modern farming practices, low value addition, post-harvest losses, and unstable incomes. At the same time, many communities lack access to fresh, locally produced food despite having the resources to produce it.

Recognising these challenges, BFGGHANA established BFG Farms at Agona Bobikuma as part of its vision to build self-sustaining community projects that improve livelihoods while supporting the organisation’s social impact.

Our farms combine crop cultivation with livestock production. One section of the farm is dedicated to a growing cocoa plantation, which forms part of our long-term vision of moving beyond cocoa production into value addition. Rather than selling only raw cocoa beans, BFGGHANA aims to process its harvest into chocolate and other cocoa products in the future, creating additional employment opportunities while increasing the value of locally grown produce.

In addition to cocoa, BFG Farms raises livestock including poultry, pigs, goats, and other farm animals. These are reared using responsible farming practices that prioritise animal welfare, quality, and sustainability.

The produce from our farms supports another BFGGHANA initiative;BFG Office / Garden. Fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, and livestock products are used to prepare wholesome farm-to-table meals, giving customers the opportunity to enjoy fresh, locally produced food in a peaceful garden setting. This approach not only guarantees freshness and quality but also strengthens the connection between agriculture, healthy living, and community development.

Beyond food production, BFG Farms serves as a practical learning centre where sustainable farming methods can be demonstrated, local employment can be created, and young people can be encouraged to see agriculture as a viable and rewarding career.

By investing in farming, value addition, and local food systems, we are creating opportunities that strengthen communities while helping BFGGHANA achieve its vision of becoming a self-sustaining organisation.
